June 11th Recap (or how I learned to stop worrying and just enjoy the show!)

Well, CJs, it may have been a short day in Reading PA but we had great weather and a great host who made the day go by smoothly! About 15 of us showed up from NY, NJ, PA, MD and VA and Dave O had us set up with some clay skeet shooting and prepped 3 different stations for open shooting, and was the consummate host! He worked out all the logistics so that we just showed up and had a good time.

I was a little worried about the size of the site and the proximity to nearby neighbors (having had a bad experience a few years ago!) and the fact that we were constrained to only one hour of open shooting, but it all came together beautifully. We even had about 10 gun club members wait around to watch us in action. The way we were setup (3 stations across the field) and where the gun club members were sitting it was almost like a coordinated show for them. At the end of our allotted time they even shouted out thank yous to us!

All that to say, even though we didn't get a whole day event out of it, we had fun and managed not to burn down anything! That's a successful day in my book. We will keep this site in our back pocket for next year and hopefully they'll let us back without any hassles.

On that front, there's another site in PA near Valley View that our friend Frank Reinoehl has recommended. After a site visit and survey I think we can probably use that for our Sept gathering. So keep an eye out for an announcement in the next week or two.

Okay, that's it for now. Have a great Juneteenth Weekend as you prepare for the July 4th weekend coming up.

Stay Green!
